Blankenberge

This lively seaside resort is a fascinating area for the young family and families with teenagers that don't want to get bored. Besides an extensive choice of outdoor and indoor sports possibilities, Blankenberge offers countless possibilities for shopaholics, gourmets and fans of modern amusement. The lunaparks and Cafés Chantants, the Casino, the funny 'velodrome', the shopping streets with its boutiques, the nightclubs and disco's and the picturesque restaurants form the vital centre of this turbulent holiday resort, which welcomes its guests in a friendly atmosphere.

Family seaside resort nr 1

The beach is 3 km long and 350 m wide at low tide and offers all the comfort the real sun lover expects. But for the active holiday maker there is also a lot to do on and around the beach. Hikers and fishermen can enjoy the 'fonteintjes' (the dune area between Blankenberge and Zeebrugge) Kids can visit child play park Nordic, where they can take a ride on a pony or a horse. For those who prefer a trip on the water, the amphibian boat is waiting on the beach in front of the casino. The old fisherman's harbour is surrounded by a hypermodern, hospitable marina with all the necessary conveniences. You can stroll down the fishermen's' harbour or the marina. The local yacht clubs organise several regattas, which give a beautiful and colourful view on the blue sea.

Sights

Those who want to have some fun with the family must certainly take a ride on one of the crazy bikes on the bicycle track of Louis, better known as the 'Lustige Velodroom' (cheerful velodrome). This funny tourist attraction is one of its kind in Europe.

The Sea Life Centre offers you a clear image of life in the North Sea. The 8 meter long underwater tunnel, where you will find yourself only centimetres away from a total of 70 different species of fish is the highlight.

The visiting card of Blankenberge is still the Pier, a unique construction at our coast: a 350 meters long promenade bridge into the sea, built in 1933.
